Attenuators DiCon's MEMS Tap/VOA Hybrid is based on a micro-electromechanical system (MEMS) chip integrated with a thin film filter. The thin film tap filter couples a portion of the input signal to an output tap fiber while transmitting the rest of the input signal onto a movable MEMS mirror. The MEMS mirror position depends on the applied voltage, thereby adjusting the power level coupled into the attenuator (VOA) output fiber.
